Dr. Gregory Woo joins Flight Sage as Director of Flight Safety

You don't build the future of aviation safety from a distance. You build it systemically from the cockpit out, starting with the pilot and seamlessly integrating the aircraft, environment, infrastructure, and beyond.

That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce that Gregory Woo, Ph.D. has joined FlightSage as our Director of Flight Safety.

This isn't just a new hire; it's a clear statement about our commitment to building a product which is grounded in world-class expertise. As we move closer to launch, Greg's role is to ensure that our products are validated by decades of real-world aviation safety experience.

His expertise is being integrated into our product's DNA. Why is this a massive step forward for our customers? Consider the experience shaping our platform:

🔹 Aviation Systems & Safety Leadership: As the former Chief of Aviation Systems Engineering at the U.S. Department of Transportation's Volpe Center, he led teams that evaluated future Air Traffic Management (ATM) concepts and identified safety hazards in emerging ATM technologies. He is also an active volunteer on the regional FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam). This expertise is now focused on our system's proactive hazard detection and risk mitigation.

🔹 Elite Pilot & Flight Instructor: With 5,100+ flight hours, an Federal Aviation Administration Certificated Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor, and a Platinum Cirrus Instructor, he intimately understands the pilot's workflow and decision-making process. This ensures our product is not just powerful, but practical and intuitive in the cockpit.

🔹 Pioneering Academic Research: Dr. Woo earned his PhD from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University focusing on aviation safety and human factors.

We asked Greg why he joined our mission. He said:

"Working with the FlightSage team on easy-to-use, efficient tools to get critical planning, hazard, and safety information to general aviation pilots aligns with my personal quest to find ways to contribute to and improve the safety of general aviation activities."

"With Dr. Woo on board, we’re not just developing software. We are codifying expertise for the benefit of everyone"
